The National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Oleg Danovski" Constanța presents "My Fair Lady" by Frederick Loewe
Within the 2026–2027 season, the "Oleg Danovski" National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Constanța invites the public to a new encounter with musical theatre, through the performance "My Fair Lady", one of the genre's most beloved creations, with music by Frederick Loewe and libretto by Alan Jay Lerner.
The performance will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 18:30, on the stage of the Constanța Trade Union Culture House.
Inspired by the play “Pygmalion” by George Bernard Shaw, as well as by the film adaptation by Gabriel Pascal, “My Fair Lady” tells the story of the transformation of Eliza Doolittle, a young woman with a strong London accent, into a true lady of society, under the guidance of Professor Henry Higgins. Beyond the charm of the story and its savory humor, the performance explores themes such as identity, personal transformation, education, and the freedom to build one's own destiny.
With a score that has become emblematic of American musicals and numerous memorable musical moments, “My Fair Lady” continues to captivate generations of audiences with its elegance, sensitivity, humor, and stage energy.
The musical direction of the performance will be provided by Constantin Grigore - Bucharest. The cast brings together artists from the "Oleg Danovski" National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Constanța, as well as guests, in a generous ensemble: Lucia Mihalache, Ștefan Popov – Bucharest, Lică Gherghilescu, Orest Pîslariu - Bucharest, Anca Dorneanu, Ionuț Boanches, Gabriela Dobre, Mihaela Ionescu, Octavian Minea, Adrian Pîrlea, Andrei Băican, Mircea Găvan - debut, Silviu Vizan, Ana Mladinovici, Ștefan Lepădatu, Iulia Stănei,Robert Safta.
The show benefits from a dedicated artistic team, which contributes to the realization of a complex production, in which music, theater, dance, and stage imagery meet to recreate the colorful universe of the famous story.
Through this performance, the "Oleg Danovski" National Opera and Ballet Theatre continues the program of the 2026–2027 season, offering the Constanța public shows that combine major titles from the international repertoire with contemporary stage visions and the performance of an exceptional artistic team.
