VIENNESE CHRISTMAS - White Symphony Orchestra
December 19, 2025 at 19:00
After a successful 2024 season, in which the White Symphony Orchestra held 20 concerts in as many cities in Romania as part of the "Viennese Christmas" national tour and ended the spring with the grandiose anniversary event "Danke Johann Strauss 200" at the Sala Palatului, the female orchestra returns in December 2025 with the 21st edition of the most beloved winter musical tour in Romania.
Under the direction of conductor Donna Bianca Maier and with the support of concertmaster Monica Calofir, the ensemble will bring to stages across the country the elegance of Viennese music, in a show full of refinement and emotion, which combines tradition with a modern and spectacular stage presentation.
An exceptional lyrical presence: soprano Oana Maria Șerban, after which, of course, other surprise guests will follow!
The tour has as a special guest Oana Maria Șerban, one of the most promising sopranos of the European scene. Appreciated for her crystalline voice and expressive interpretation, Oana has conquered audiences around the world through roles such as Olympia from The Tales of Hoffmann, Gilda from Rigoletto, Susanna from The Marriage of Figaro, but also through spectacular appearances at the Musikverein Vienna and in the Gardens of the Palace of Versailles on the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She is also a beloved presence on the stage of the Comic Opera for Children, where she has brought to life characters such as Norina, Clorinda or Rosina.
Expanded Repertoire – More than Strauss
Although the waltzes and polkas of Johann Strauss (son) remain the backbone of the concert, the XXI edition proposes a broader repertoire, with famous works by other great classical composers such as Franz Lehár, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Georges Bizet, but also thematic suites and international carols reinterpreted with elegance.
White Symphony Orchestra – a unique project in Romania
Formed exclusively of professional musicians, White Symphony Orchestra has distinguished itself through its refined sonority and memorable stage image, in which the instrumentalists appear in white gala dresses, symbolizing purity, elegance and femininity.
Under the baton of Donna Bianca Maier, a conductor appreciated for her expressive and modern style, and with Monica Calofir – a virtuoso violinist and concertmaster of note – the orchestra has managed to transform "Viennese Christmas" into an annual landmark in the Romanian cultural landscape.
