165 years after the birth of the great Russian playwright A. P. Chekhov, Beatrice Rancea brings back on stage "The Wedding", in a new version, 30 years after her directorial debut with the same play. The production from then received numerous awards, the appreciation of the public and critics alike, and was taken over by Romanian Television. In the new staging, Beatrice Rancea combines in a spectacular way the comedy of situation, character or language, offering a production full of rhythm and energy, with live musical moments, a captivating stage universe, in which humor and melancholy intertwine in a refined dance of emotions. The new production of the Independent Luceafărul Theatre offers not only a great show, but also a cast to match: Radu Gheorghe, Monica Dobrișan, Cristi Toma, Vlad Lință, Cristina Constantinescu, Andrei Vasilescu, Mircea Constantinescu, Mihai Baranga, Bogdan Costea, Andra Iulia Stoicescu, Meda Topîrceanu, Mihai Căpățînă, Andrei Barbu, Andrei Cojanu and with the extraordinary participation of soprano Arlinda Morava. The show begins with the classic elements of a wedding – a happy bride, a preoccupied and impatient groom, a pair of worried parents and all sorts of colorful guests, each with their own story. But the drama is just beginning, with Dashenka and Epaminond Maximovici Aplombov at the center, the bride and groom of a wedding that gradually turns into a space of conflict between the other participants in the "happy" event. The bride's parents, Nastasia Timofeevna and Evdokim Zaharovici Jigalov, bicker with each other in front of their own daughter, the avaricious groom becomes furious when his pecuniary demands and the promises of the in-laws remain unfulfilled, and the bride exchanges the happiness of the most beautiful day of her life for the drama of the unloved and abandoned woman. However, everything seems to be forgotten when a long-awaited, but fake general, makes an appearance at the wedding.
Thus, "The Wedding" after A.P. Chekhov, staged by director Beatrice Rancea, with the scenography signed by Ioana Colceag, promises the audience a portion of laughter with tears, but also a deep reflection on the world in which we live, transforming the show into one that theater lovers cannot miss.
