MY FAIR LADY
May 3, 2025, at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
National Operetta and Musical Theatre "Ion Dacian"
"My Fair Lady" is the story of a simple man who wants to surpass himself, to learn and enjoy life. At the same time, it is the story of someone who has the ambition to use their knowledge to refine a human character and to endow it with what a person should always have at their disposal: a refined and careful speech, an infallible instrument of self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his work speaking, singing, dancing, and getting caught up in the rule-less game of love.
In fact, in "My Fair Lady", the two protagonists approach and repel, hate and admire each other, exclude and come together in a permanent back-and-forth, musical. The music, with its protective charm, accompanies this flight towards perfection, towards the ideal.
We have worked with love and dedication alongside the set designer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, lighting master, not to mention the soloists, to approach, as much as possible, everything that is human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
