National Tour Bogdan Mihai Simion & Lăutarii de Mătase
The tour enjoys a new musicality !!! The folk musician and collector of traditional music, and one of the last cobza singers in Romania, Simion Bogdan-Mihai, alongside his band, Lăutarii de Mătase, embark on a new tour, bringing along a renowned trumpeter!
Born in 1990 in Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Bogdan began studying the cobza at just 15, dedicating his life to collecting and interpreting authentic folk music. Since 2006, he has traveled through Romania, discovering forgotten songs and learning from the last practitioners of the tradition.
Over the years, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Mihai Mărgineanu, Taraf de Haidouks, Les Elephants Bizarres, Chimie, Samurai, and many others. He created the soundtrack for the successful documentaries „Flavours of Romania" and „Wild Carpathia," directed by British journalist Charlie Ottley.
His albums – „Valahia în Demol" (2021) and „Drum pavat cu bolovani" (2023), both produced by Adrian Despot – have set sales records and established him as one of the most important contemporary traditional music artists.
His music blends three major influences: Romanian peasant music, urban folk music, and classic Romanian pop music (waltzes, tangos, and cabaret songs from the first half of the 20th century).
