For the first time, we bring before you a unique and delicious concept at the same time, which has at its center of attention the well-known soloist of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, mezzo-soprano IULIA MERCA.
A strong and refined voice invites you to listen to the most beautiful works of the genre, a tribute to Argentinian tango music in all its splendor.
You will find in the orchestra's repertoire the famous tangos that have seduced entire generations, a tour de force through the most beautiful works of the golden age and up to the mysterious tango nuevo of Astor Piazzolla, but also from the Romanian interwar period.
"Cluj Tango Orchestra" is made up of professional Romanian musicians, members of the National Opera of Cluj-Napoca, the Hungarian Opera, the "Sigismund Todută" Music College and the "Ghe. Dima" National Academy of Music.
With over 170 shows staged in Romania but also abroad, we bring to the general public a fragment of the beauty and magic of Argentinian tango music

CLUJ TANGO ORCHESTRA
IULIA MERCA – mezzo-soprano (Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca)
With an imposing stage presence, with an unmistakable voice, in 20 years of activity she has debuted in over 40 opera, operetta or musical roles, both in the country and abroad. Iulia's artistic activity includes chamber concerts of music and poetry, musical, opera and theater performances, her interpretations being appreciated on numerous stages around the world: Tokyo, New York, Kulu- India, Vienna, Prague, Paris, Rome. She won the grand prize at the "HaricleeaDarclee" International Singing Competition, the first prize at the Romanian Lied Festival (Brașov, 2003), the prize for the best soloist at the National Opera Festival in Iași.
IRINA INDREI – piano (Music College "Sigismund Toduță" and Hungarian Opera Cluj-Napoca)
A graduate of the National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, with a diverse stage activity, a lover of tango music and passionate about the works of Astor Piazzolla, Irina is the harmonic and rhythmic "engine" of the orchestra. She is a complete instrumentalist, with a rich stage experience, currently being a titular professor at the "S. Toduță" Music College, piano department and rehearsal pianist at the Hungarian Opera Cluj-Napoca, also a doctoral student at the "Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy in the specialization Argentinian Tango Music.

SORIN ROBERT INDREI – bandoneon
A graduate of the Faculty of Music in Bucharest, a founding member of the "Cluj Tango Orchestra" Association, Robert is the first Romanian to play the bandoneon in an orchestra. He constantly specializes in the art of the bandoneon, being a student of Professor Yvonne Hahn – France and of Maestro Adelin Pais – Argentina, having a beautiful evolution in recent years on the stages of Argentinian tango festivals in Romania. For over 6 years he has been the musician who manages the orchestra, with an impressive number of over 170 concerts staged throughout the country.
EMANUEL ELCEAN – double bass (Cluj-Napoca Music Academy)
Graduated in double bass from the "Ghe. Dima" National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, he has been a regular on stages and concert halls since high school. With a beautiful and precise technique, he fulfills the harmonic support of the orchestra. He says about himself that he would not see his life any other way than with his double bass.
Collaborator of internationally renowned Philharmonic Orchestras such as "Transylvania State Philharmonic", ", Sibiu State Philharmonic", ", Brașov Philharmonic" or "Târgu Mureș State Philharmonic", Emanuel is a basic pillar of our tango orchestra. He is also part of the Royal Youth Orchestra.
ADRIAN LUP - cello (Music College "Sigismund Toduță- Cluj Napoca)
He started studying the instrument at the age of 9. He graduated from the "Sigismund Toduță" Music High School in Cluj-Napoca, as well as undergraduate and master's studies at the "Gheorghe Dima" National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. During his artistic training he studied with professors such as Gabriel Rîpă and Maria Mărginean, also benefiting from the artistic guidance of cellist Octavian Lup. He participated in numerous masterclasses held by renowned cellists, including Marin Cazacu.
His artistic activity includes collaborations with orchestras such as the New Hope Orchestra and the Young Famous Orchestra, as well as a two-year collaboration with the Satu Mare State Philharmonic. He is a laureate of several national and international competitions and a participant in specialized olympiads. He is currently working as a cello professor at the "Sigismund Toduță" Music High School in Cluj-Napoca.
MILENA VĂDAN – Violin (Cluj-Napoca Music Academy)
A graduate of the "S. Toduță" Music College, she is a lover of tango music, currently a student at the "Ghe. Dima" National Academy of Music with Professor Vlad Raceu.
Daughter of a luthier, she became acquainted with music from a young age, having three more brothers, all musicians. Milena says about herself that she makes music from the heart when she goes on stage, every time.
