WHY, BAIESU?
In the 60s, when I was a child and when television had just appeared, Ion Baiesu's name was on everyone's lips because he had written the famous TV comedy series "Tanta and Costel" in which Coca Andronescu and Octavian Cotescu played, actors who reached impressive popularity levels! Later, when I heard that he was from Buzău, like me, I was proud of every achievement of his, among which I would mention the comedy "The Rug" played until 1990 for 18 uninterrupted years at the Comedy Theater with Stela Popescu in the main role and numerous scripts for film productions, the most notable being the one for the film "Tonight we dance in the family", which is laughed at healthily whenever it is rebroadcast on all TV channels.
Certainly, Baiesu continued Caragiale, exaggerating the traits of the "Dambovita Myth" who reached "communist paradise." Unfortunately, even in the "paradise" we all live in today, Mitica is omnipresent and with the same airs as in Baiesu's time, not to say worse. Stupidity has existed since the world began and manifests aggressively regardless of the era. And "Ion Baiesu laughs heartily, especially when he encounters stupidity, a disease that sometimes jumps the fence and into the garden of those you wouldn't believe." These words belong to the writer Fanus Neagu, who adds: "What bothers me about Baiesu is that beneath every joke I feel a fine sadness distilling. Laughter intertwines with a grain of pain - and isn't this, perhaps, the mask of theater from all times?".
Our production wants to bring to the public's attention a true playwright capable of "intertwining laughter with a grain of pain," as Fanus Neagu masterfully underlined. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY LIFE?" is the title of a theatrical sketch signed by Baiesu that features the famous Tanta and Costel as protagonists. We chose it as the "generic" title of the entire show because in all the texts represented, the relationship between "He and She" is turned inside out, often complicated in a delicious way by Ion Baiesu's overflowing imagination.
You can admire the performance of young actors with extraordinary qualities for comedy: Isabela Chitosca, Mariangela Coldea, Diana Bagdasar, Florin Nan, Andrei Necula, Florin Nan, Tudor Bojin and Denis Florian. Tica Sandu sings. The direction is signed by Radu Baiesu and Adrian Fetecau.

In conclusion, the answer to the question "Why, Baiesu?" is very simple: Because it is more relevant than ever! And the "Constantin Tanase" Theater, by hosting this show on one of the most important theater stages in the Capital, underlines the value of the playwright, often underestimated by many after 1989. This initiative can only be welcomed and...congratulated!
